I’m posting this on Tuesday instead of Monday! I’ve taken this Pentecost weekend to breathe, get out and explore!
My weeks are always a bit crazy. A rough weekly outline looks like this:
- Sunday & Mondays we are closed, so I try not to work and devote this time to family, friends & myself. The last few weeks that hasn’t worked because of the website and orders.
- Tuesdays are all about customers, shopping and kitchen planning.
- On Wednesdays, we start prepping & baking in the kitchen.
- Thursdays are all about baking & decorating.
- Friday & Saturday we are decorating, doing deliveries & pickups.
Last weekend was really the first time in what felt like ages I had 2.5 whole days off. I was in need of some mega work-detox. So after the last delivery on Saturday, we had lunch at "Op Hodenpijl". It's this amazing little church nearby Delft. I had this great farmers omelet with an amazing side salad. Everything is from local produce and the eggs from backyard chickens. Great place for lunch 👌🏽.
After that, we went to the Zoo in Rotterdam. We walked and wondered. I had so much fun seeing all the animals, I totally felt like a child again. I realized that maybe I don’t get out enough. I’m not saying that I work too much, but I can make some more time to just breath, get out and explore the world around me instead of staying in my bubble.
This summer I’m going to try to get out more and finding Happy in small things - like visiting the Zoo 😉and seeing the cutest cow nose rays!
On Sunday my wife and I had this amazing day. We woke up early, did groceries and cooked together the whole day. We made a delicious Saoto soup from scratch with everything that goes with it. Like homemade pepper and fried white rice noodles. We enjoyed this great meal with family & friends. I loved everything about it, but mostly just spending time with my wife and enjoying each other. Wondering what Saoto soup is? It’s this amazing soup from Surinam that you eat with rice. You also have an Indonesian version called Soto soup. They are similar but also different. We made this recipe if you want to try (it's in Dutch, let me know if you want the English version 😉)
Monday ended with PJ’s and Netflix. We binged the new limited show Tales of the City. Nothing but love for that show ❤️. Another watch tip is What / If. Totally a different genre! You’ll be sitting on the edge of your seat 😊.
I’d love to hear all about your weekend in the comments below.
Have a Happy week everyone!
