My heart really goes out to Eeyore. His natural inclined depressive personality really doesn't help. But despite that, he has great compassion. I'm really happy that his tail is detachable, so it doesn't hurt when Donald dressed up as Voorhees cuts his tail with a catamaran knife.
This is not a design of my vivid imagination, but of the vivid imagination of artistic friends who trusted me to translate their commissioned artwork made by comic artist Boy Akkerman into a sugar sculpture.
The artwork features Donald Duck in a Jason Voorhees mask cutting off Eeyore’s tail with a catamaran knife. The main challenge with sculpting these figures where:
- Finding the balance. Donald is really leaning forward, so the internal structure needed to be solid enough to be able to stand
- The knife. It was not possible to support the knife in one piece with Donald, so I made the wise decision to make it separately.
- Eeyore's tail. I wanted Eeyore's tail to "float" in the air as if just being cut off.
Glad to be able to have solved these challenges and extremely proud of how these figurines turned out. The concrete look finished deep pink velvet cake was the perfect podium for Donald Voorhees & Eeyore.
For who's curious: it took about 10 hours of modeling to complete them.
